Preparing for Surgery

Step 1

Call the Pre-Admitting Office at (210) 579-3292 to verify insurance coverage and determine if any deductibles and/or co-payments are due.

This is also the time to confirm that insurance authorizations for your surgery, hospital stay, and follow-up care are complete.

Be prepared to provide personal information, such as next of kin and emergency contact, as well as Medicare, Medicaid or insurance information.

Step 2

Call the Pre-Surgery Testing Nurse at (210) 579-3472 as soon as your surgery is scheduled. You will be asked to set up an appointment 3 to 5 days before surgery for routine tests, such as an EKG (electrocardiogram), blood and urine samples, and other tests requested by your physician.

Although appointments are preferred, you may walk-in for your pre-admission tests any time Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

When you come in for Pre-Surgery Testing, sign in at the registration desk on the 17th floor.
